They say those who fall in its current are forever consumed by the stream's grip, their lives forever twisted into a tragic melody.
When the Tanks Burst
On January 15th, 1919, Boston witnessed a disaster unlike any other. A massive tank filled with molasses burst open in the city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that crashed through the streets like a tsunami. The flood, reaching heights 25 feet in some areas, was catastrophic. Homes and businesses crumbled under the force of the sticky goo.
The aftermath was heartbreaking. Twenty-one people lost their lives, and many more sustained wounds. The flood also caused extensive damage to property, leaving a trail of molasses carnage in its wake.
